Edward Anthony "Eddy" Brown (Born c. 1977) is the Police Chief of Delos Crossing. He is also Alyson Ronan's guardian and is affectionately known to her as "Uncle". He is part of the local Alaskan Tlingit community, specifically Raven moiety.
Appearance[]
Eddy is Tlingit. He has dark hair and dark eyes. He is seen as being well put together in his uniform during the first chapter.
Personality[]
Eddy is described by Alyson as kind and supportive.
Eddy is dedicated to his job, and is unwilling to compromise on procedure, keeping things "by the book" when speaking with the twins about Mary-Ann's case record. Despite this he‘s willing to bend the rules to protect the people he cares about.
History[]
Eddy’s father died when he was young, and he was very close to his mother. Eddy’s mother described him as wise and “always knowing when it‘s time to go”.
As an adult Eddy joined the police force. He seems to have met Mary-Ann Ronan through his mother, a friend of hers, and the two eventually became friends.
Eddy was informed in 2005 that CPS was investigating Mary-Ann at the request of Tessa Vecchi. Eddy felt like it was his job to tell Mary-Ann about what was going on, breaking protocol in an attempt to help his friend.
Eddy was on duty the night of Mary-Ann’s death on March 1, 2005. He was the officer who brought Tyler and Alyson Ronan in for questioning. Both told him that Tyler had stabbed Mary-Ann after she attempted to kill him. Eddy believed that Tyler had killed his mother in self defense, and advised the court and the police force to send him to Fireweed Residential Center rather than a juvenile detention center or worse. He claims that Fireweed was the "best deal he could get" for Tyler.
On May 10, 2005, Eddy went to court after Mary-Ann’s death to become Alyson's legal guardian and moved in with him in his house. He was told that preventing Aly from seeing Tyler would be better for her mental state, and did so. Fireweed were encouraging of the recommendation as well, and so he stopped Alyson from visiting Tyler for a total of seven years.
In 2012, Tyler graduated from Fireweed, and Alyson graduated high school and remained distant from Alyson for three years while transitioning. Eddy heavily blames Tyler for this refusal to see Alyson, stating that she would never admit how much it hurt her.
Chapter 1[]
Alyson brings up her close relationship with Eddy while on the Crossing with Tyler. She knows that it's a sensitive subject, but offers Tyler a ring as a gift from Eddy. She warns him that gift-giving in Tlinkit culture is a serious thing, and his refusal would definitely be hurtful. The player can choose to have Tyler approach the situation with different responses. Alyson and Tyler visit Eddy at the Delos Crossing police station in the evening. Eddy is on a call with an elderly person who wants him to come over and deal with the crows on her property.
Eddy greets Alyson and tells her that he‘ll talk with her and Tyler later. He gives Aly the keys to the break room and tells her he‘ll be done in a little while. When Alyson and Tyler return, Eddy is done with the call.
Eddy greets Tyler. Alyson asks him if he knows anything about Mary- Ann’s death. Eddy responds in the negative, but tells the twins that he doesn’t think Mary-Ann would have hurt Tyler for “being different” and that nobody he knows saw her attempt to kill Tyler coming.
Tyler demands to see Mary-Ann’s case file. Eddy says that he has to stick to procedure, and he can’t just take out the file here and now. The two get into an argument. Tyler tells Eddy that he was wrong to keep him and Alyson separated for so long. Eddy retorts that he was trying to keep Alyson safe, and that Tyler didn’t let Alyson see him even when he had “graduated” from Fireweed and was allowed to come and go to and from the center as he liked. Alyson makes an attempt to keep them from arguing but must eventually choose a side.
If Alyson sides with Tyler, she’ll tell Eddy that being separated from Tyler didn’t help her mental state. Eddy will apologize. The three of them will go out to dinner.
Chapter 2[]
Alyson and Tyler experience a memory of Eddy meeting with Mary-Ann the day of her death, even though Eddy told them he hadn't seen her in weeks. They arrive at the police station to ask Eddy about it. However, he is busy taking a statement and insists he has nothing more to tell them.
The twins sneak upstairs and poke around Eddy's office, discovering Eddy's intent to hire a new officer with a questionable record, an invoice for Fireweed that shows Eddy was paying for Tyler's care, and an acceptance letter for Alyson from drama school. Alyson says Eddy told her she hadn't gotten in and that she shouldn't be surprised as he's lied before.
Alyson and Tyler then break into the police archives. Eddy catches them and does not press charges, telling them they are lucky they are family. Tyler tells Eddy he saw their file where Eddy alerted child services about Mary-Ann, and Eddy consents to talk in his office.
Eddy explains the winter before Mary-Ann's death was especially harsh. Everyone in Delos Crossing was struggling, but Mary-Ann struggled most. When Tessa came to him about child neglect, he was obligated by law to report it, even if he didn't agree. After learning child services planned to pursue the case, Eddy broke protocol to warn Marry-Ann that things weren't looking good.
Tyler urges Eddy to take responsibility to Marry-Ann's death, and Eddy admits he's spent years questioning if he should have done something different. He apologizes to the twins for withholding information from them, stating he wanted to save them from unnecessary hurt. He recognizes he made a mistake but states he has tried his best and being a father is tough job. He tells Tyler he'd like to be a father figure to him.
If Tyler forgives Eddy, he will wear the ring Alyson offered in chapter 1. Tyler can then talk to Eddy about the Fireweed payments. If Tyler does not forgive him, he will called Eddy "chief" and tell him it is time to move on. Eddy will suggest to Alyson that they get dinner together - just the two of them.
Chapter 3[]
At the beginning of the chapter Eddy slips Alyson a note under her door, telling her that there are “buck up buckwheat” waffles and her moving papers in the kitchen; before heading out to work.
Later that morning Eddy can be seen interrogating Alexander Gershwin after the latter is caught with a moose carcass in his car and seems to have been hunting outside of the legal hunting range. Eddy is harsh on Alexander throughout this interrogation.
After the questioning Eddy steps outside for some air to find Alyson sitting outside the police station in the middle of a panic attack. Eddy hugs Aly and brings her upstairs to his office. Eddy comments that Alyson hasn’t had a panic attack like that in a long time and asks if anything in particular brought it on.
Alyson has the choice between confessing the truth behind Mary-Ann’s murder to Eddy or hiding it.
If Alyson tells Eddy that she’s the one who murdered Mary-Ann, Eddy will initially be shocked and not understand. As he starts to realize what happens Eddy becomes upset but tells Alyson that it took a lot of bravery on her part to tell him. The two hug.

Trivia[]
- Eddy's mother, Carol Brown is buried at the DeLos Crossing Cemetery. She was born October 8, 1937 and died September 21, 1999 at the age of 61.
- In the Book of Goblins, the Stalwart Moose teaches the goblins how to fish. This parallels a real-life event in which Eddy taught Tyler and Alyson how catch and clean fish.
- Eddy may have been married prior to the twins knowing him or at least had a significant other. In the Book of Goblins, the Stalwart Moose gives a memory to the Secret Keeper because he wishes to forget his choice that led to the death of his mate. A box in which the Secret Keeper figurine can be found is in Eddy's room. If Alyson looks inside his wardrobe, she could comment on a blind date Eddy went on two years ago, and find a phone number for an unknown Claire she assumes to be another possible date.
