Fireweed Residential Center

Fireweed Residential Center is a residential center for troubled teenagers located about two hours away from Delos Crossing.

Appearance[]

The residential center appears to have two main floors and is composed primarily of wood slats. The words “Fireweed Residential Center” are written on the front of the building. Outside the building, there are two flag poles showing the American flag and the Alaskan state flag. The main building is connected to a second building with a garage.

The center is surrounded by forest and borders a ferry crossing to Delos Lake.

Format[]

Not much is known about how Fireweed works. It is very accepting of LGBTQIA+ teens and seems to have systems in place to help transgender residents to go through hormone replacement therapy and gender reaffirming surgery.

Fireweed also has a mentorship program in which older residents can mentor younger residents.

Notable Residents[]

Tyler Ronan (former)[]

Tyler seems to have stayed in Fireweed from 2005 to 2015 (from age 11 to age 21). He mentions participating in the mentorship program at the center. He often wears a sweater labelled “Fireweed” as well as a jean jacket embroidered with a phoenix designed by a fellow resident.

Appearances[]

Episode 1[]

At the beginning of Episode 1, Tyler is seen leaving Fireweed and reuniting with Alyson for the first time in ten years outside the building.

Trivia[]

  • Fireweed serves food to its residents. Tyler expresses that he is glad to never eat overcooked halibut at Fireweed, but nevertheless indirectly compares the food favourably to spam as he couldn't imagine anyone wanting to eat the latter.
  • In Chapter 3, there is a pamphlet from Fireweed on Eddy's desk with the address "1293 Deili Road, Lóol, AK 77020". Lóol means "fireweed" in the Tlingit language.[1]
